How to Replace an programming audi key keyless go; www.stes.tyc.edu.tw, G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is located near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

Kia-Motors-New-2021.pngThe sensor is used as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can activate spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper timing chain. However, the code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky since there are two connector pins, and they have different functions but the most effective way to test it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms when the sensor is in full operation. Check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive reduction in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, three were drenched in gazoline, the 4th one was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole and when i start the engine without sparks, the ones with gazoline jump out. The 4th one stays shut. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start if the G28 is unplugged and runs fine when it is plugged in however it has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is identical to the G4 and both function in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or at a parts store. It is easy to test them: simply put your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing up). They should be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines requires to know the position and speed the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of fuel injectors, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you are experiencing issues with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger an engine shutdown.

The signs of a malfunctioning G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox, gears shifting quicker than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. It is possible that your sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. The good news is that they are quite affordable and readily available particularly if you're looking at a Bosch sensor, like ours. Alternatively, GM's version of this part is an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a variety of issues in your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission of your audi spare key cost since it sends information to the ECU regarding how fast or slow the car's engine is turning. If the sensor fails, it will affect the performance of the transmission as well as the other car's components.

toyota-logo-2020.pngThe G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of transmission, above the flywheel ring. It sends a signal via gray wire to ECU pin T55/49. The ECU uses this signal to regulate fuel and boost, and also to timigrate. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection to pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms in these areas. This part is common across the audi key programmer 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC up to the 1997 UrS An and 1995 RS2 Du So, you may find them in wrecking yards.
