After the short Yosemite trip, I arrived in Las Vegas. I stayed in a hotel, so it didn't feel like a climbing trip. Usually I rent a house (Air B&B) or live at a campsite. In Las Vegas, I spend a lot of money at the casino, so the hotel I stay at is very luxurious, but it's a very good deal. That said, it's still expensive for a poor guy like me, and I prefer camping and cheap accommodation, so this hotel didn't suit me.

Climbing and bouldering in Las Vegas is Red Rock Canyon National Park.

I think Red Rock is less than 30 minutes from Las Vegas. It's very close and a beautiful place. It was hot, but when I told an acquaintance who lives in Arizona, "When I was climbing Red Rock, it was 30 degrees and it was hot. I managed to climb it by looking for shade," he said, "30 degrees? It's totally cool lol." Seriously?! But it's true that even in the Facebook community, 30 degrees is still quite cool. Everyone, even though they say that, of course they climb in the shade. I stayed in Las Vegas for 2 nights and 3 days, and I was only able to climb on this one day. Why?

One of the members who went climbing with me was attending a friend's wedding in Boston and was meeting us in Los Angeles. She also made the reservation for the rental car, which was helpful... But when I got there, she was the only one registered... Even though I told her before leaving New Zealand that I had an international driver's license... Because of that, she had to drive 4 hours round trip (because there is a lot of traffic in Yosemite) from her accommodation every day from Los Angeles to Yosemite, and when she drove to Las Vegas and arrived at the hotel, she said, "I'm tired, I'm tired, can I make a massage reservation? I can't go climbing."

Of course... In the end, I only went to Red Rock and climbed for about 2-3 hours. The driver climbed three easy routes and then lay down on the ground. The next day, the driver was going to get a massage, so I and another person couldn't use the car and went sightseeing around the hotel. We couldn't kill an hour. We ended up spending the time watching YouTube at the hotel. What a waste...

"I'm grateful that he drove the whole time, but if the driver gets sick or injured, who will drive? If you get injured, who will drive? Why do you think I brought my international driver's license? While you're getting a massage, we can't go anywhere because we don't have a car. Even if you take a break from climbing because you got a massage, we could still go climbing together."

I said that to the girl, but she didn't say a word, so I don't know if she understood or not...

Anyway, I learned a lot from my first trip to America, but I enjoyed it without getting hurt, so I'll call it a success. I wonder where I should go next...
