1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit challenging as there are two different connector pins, and they perform different functions however the best way to test it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is fully operational, it should be reading approximately 1000 ohms. Look for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs. Three were soaked with gazoline and the fourth one was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole and when I start the engine without sparks, the 3 that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one stays shut. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I think the issue is in another location.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue persists at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit is showing 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, i believe that i've completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i am afraid i might have missed something. Please let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is the same as the G4 and they both work in the 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or at a parts store.
