How to Replace an audi keys replacement cost q3 audi lost key (https://maps.google.com.pr/) G28 Engine Speed SensorIn this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel gear. It sends a message to the ECU through a grey wire T55/49, then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
It is located on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 via the grey wire. The ECU utilizes this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends signals to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.
The sensor is used as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and the location of the camshaft so it can start spark and injectors accordingly.
If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of line with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain. However, the error code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
Testing can be a bit difficult because there are two connector pins and they perform different functions however the best method of testing it is to measure the resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read approximately 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. If you're having issues with this part, check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, while accelerating from the highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was like the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs. Three were soaked with gazoline and the 4th one was dry. When I crank the engine without sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I get 0ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is in another place.
I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it works fine when the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows a temperature of -49c. Also, i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit is showing 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.
I'm not sure what to do, as i feel i have pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. Please let me know if you have any ideas! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. It is easy to find the spare in a salvage shop or a parts store. Test them out to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector audi a5 key Fob end up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black end of the connector). They should be infinite ohms.
4. ECU
The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must know both the position and speed the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of fuel injectors, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you have a problem with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will display codes that could lead to an engine shut down.
Some of the symptoms of a malfunctioning G28 sensor are an inaccurate gearbox rev counter the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or a misfire when you are in gear. It is possible that your sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. They are cheap and easy-to-find particularly in the case of an Bosch model like ours. Alternatively, the GM version of this component is also a good choice.
5. Tachometer
A failing engine sensor could cause a variety of issues in your vehicle. It's a crucial component of the transmission in your audi lost key because it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's engine is spinning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and other components of the car to be affected.
The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, over the flywheel ring. It sends an electrical signal through a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU is then able to process this signal to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost, and also sends it on to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check for sensor failure by examining the continuity of the sensor to the tachometer. Also, you can examine the continuity between pins T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. There should be an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these points. This is a common feature across the audi key replacement near me 80-100-200-RS2 series, starting beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 Du, so you might find them in wrecking yards.
